Get your dancing shoes ready. The 26th Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Festival returns to The Auditorium at Wests Nelson Bay from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October 2026, bringing three days of live music and dancing to the Bay.
Presented by Wests Nelson Bay Diggers and the Nelson Bay Rock ‘n’ Roll Club, the festival has become a fixture on the Port Stephens calendar, drawing dancers from all over Australia each year. Entry is free, the entertainment is free, and with three dance floors running across the weekend there is plenty of room for everyone to get moving.
The line-up
Live bands take the stage on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon:
- Friday 16 October: Robbie & The Rewinders from 7pm, followed by Two Johnnys from 8:30pm
- Saturday 17 October: Blue Suede Boppers from 7pm, followed by 2 Good Reasons from 8:30pm
- Sunday 18 October: Matchbox from 1pm
When the bands take a break, DJ Steve keeps the rock ‘n’ roll rolling, so the dance floors stay busy all weekend long.
Dress the part, or come as you are
Organisers are encouraging festival-goers to dig out their best 1950s dance outfit, whether that means a full swing skirt and petticoat or a sharp bowling shirt and rolled-up jeans. If vintage isn’t your style, that’s fine too. Everyone is welcome to come as they are and soak up the atmosphere, whether they are seasoned jivers or simply there to watch the dancers and enjoy the music.
With dancers travelling from interstate for the weekend, it’s also a great chance for locals to see some impressive footwork right on their doorstep.
