Thousands of visitors are expected from this weekend as the biggest ever Port Stephens Toyota NSW Pro hits the waves at Birubi Beach.
Extended to a new 8-day format, this year’s event will kick off this Saturday 3 November with the Kaos PRD Cadet Cup and conclude on Tuesday 13 November following the World Surf League qualifying series Men’s and Women’s divisions.
Janelle Gardner, Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator, says it’s fantastic to see this world class event return to Port Stephens once again:
“We all know that Port Stephens is one of the most famed surfing spots in Australia, and I’m excited to share this by welcoming some of the world’s best surfers to our stunning region.
“This event presents a unique opportunity for our local surfers to compete at an elite level with some of the best surfers in the world, and also to showcase the talent we have living here in Port Stephens.
“With over 300 competitors plus many family, friends and spectators all here for a piece of the action, this is a perfect opportunity for us to show off our amazing beaches, National Parks and our valued Worimi Conservation Lands. Events like the Pro bring new visitors to our area and stimulate our local economy – supporting our many local businesses.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with Surfing NSW and welcoming the Pro to Port Stephens for many years to come,” Ms Gardner said.
