Port Stephens Council elects new Deputy Mayor

Port Stephens Council has tonight elected a new Deputy Mayor in Councillor Sarah Smith.

Newly elected Deputy Mayor Smith says it’s an exciting time to take on this new role on Council:

“Having been newly elected to Council last year, I am honoured to be elected as Deputy Mayor in 2018. I am passionate about Port Stephens and seeing the best outcomes for our residents now and into the future.

“When I first stood for election I pledged to make a real difference for our community. It’s been a whirlwind year and I’m proud to be a part of this Council which has already achieved a great deal.

“I’ve relished the great learning experience I’ve had thus far, and now as Deputy Mayor, I look forward to learning even more, continuing to work in partnership with our community and contributing even more to our Port Stephens,” Deputy Mayor Smith said.

Deputy Mayor Smith will remain in the role for a term of one year, effective immediately.
